Pablo Zabaleta has moved a step closer to ending his time at Manchester City after his agent held talks with Inter Milan over a prospective move.
The Argentine defender is considering his options after in-coming manager Pep Guardiola put two new full backs on his wanted list in his first transfer window at the club.
Zabaleta has already seen Bacary Sagna overtake him as City's first choice right back - and is set to face increased competition for a starting place next season.
The 31-year-old, who is recovering from an ankle operation, is among Inter manager Roberto Mancini's targets in a summer when the Italian giants are expected to spend heavily, following their takeover by Chinese investors.
Discussing his client's future, Zabaleta's agent Federico Pastorello told Telelombardia: "I am talking to Inter about both Candreva and Zabaleta."
Pastorello previously opened the door to Zabaleta's departure, saying: "Zabaleta has another year's deal at Manchester City.
"I understand Pep Guardiola has been confirmed, but the opportunities in the market are endless. Should there be other opportunities, we will evaluate."
Guardiola wants to make as many as six more signings following the capture of Ilkay Gundogan.
