Vietnam trounce Syria

Vietnam hosted Syria on Tuesday in a friendly and it was the former who were mightily impressive in claiming a 2-0 victory.
Le Cong Vinh opened the scoring in the 34th minute after Vietnam had dominated the opening exchanges.
Nguyen Van Quyet then doubled the Golden Stars’ advantage in the 45th minute of play.
They headed into the half-time break with a deserved 2-0 lead and Nguyen Huru Thang would have been satisfied with his sides first 45-minutes.
What followed in the second half was a disappointing display of attacking football as both sides struggled to create opportunities and hold onto possession for extended periods of play.
Vietnam are next in action against Hong Kong on Friday while Syria will be keen to bounce back strongly when they face Thailand on the same day.
