Arsenal fans now want Arsene Wenger to STAY at the Emirates

ARSENE WENGER has won over the Arsenal fans – with the majority of the club’s home hardcore now willing to give him another year at the helm.

Arsenal fans now want Arsene Wenger to STAY at the Emirates
STAYING: Wenger will be at Arsenal for at least another season

That is the clear result of our exclusive poll conducted in and around The Emirates Stadium over the final six weeks of the 2015-16 campaign.
Forget the phone-ins. Forget the armchair and keyboard Gunners at war with each other over their manager’s future.

We wanted to hear the views of the Arsenal matchday fans and season ticket holders – the punters who dictate the atmosphere inside the stadium.

And not just a knee-jerk reaction, either, which is why we ran the survey into the ‘Wenger stay or go’ debate at three separate home games.

The first was the 1-1 draw Crystal Palace in April when Arsenal’s title hopes died.

A thumping 68 of the 100 fans asked that afternoon wanted him sacked.

But by the time of the 2-0 win over West Brom, there had been a swing in mood – towards Wenger (left) staying.

Now, we had an exact 50-50 split. And that had grown into a sizeable majority come the last-day win against Aston Villa that saw Arsenal pinch second spot from Spurs.

No fewer than 72 per cent told us they were backing Wenger, 66, next season – with just 25 against him.

But almost all who voted for him did so on one condition – he spends BIG this summer.

The £30million capture of Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka must only be the start.

The fans also want a new world-class striker and defender.
