Antonio Rudiger says that he's unsure about his future at Roma, but expressed his delight at winning the Rome derbies against Lazio and playing with Francesco Totti.
The highly-rated defender is currently on loan from Stuttgart, but a €9m option to buy may see him stay in the Italian capital.
The 23-year-old has also been linked with several Premier League sides, including Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.
"At the moment I'm a Roma player," The Germany international told Funke Medien Gruppe. "I'm feeling very well in the team and in the city. But you never know what is going to happen in football.
"Maybe the club will make other choices or something happens after the European Championships. But I'm facing the future calmly."
The player has certainly had a very memorable time with the Giallorossi, ending the season with a remarkable return to form after a very poor start to their Serie A campaign. Part of their late push for European football was a spectacular 4 – 1 win over Lazio, their second victory over their derby rivals in the 2015/16 Serie A season.
"They were great experiences," Ruddiger said about the two matches. "You become a footballer for such games. The fans really live those derbies and the atmosphere is great.
"We won both derbies and the fans celebrated us. You can feel, how grateful they are for derby wins. If it’s going good, you are the hero. But I also got to know the other side," he said about his team's poor performance at the start of the season.
The player was also asked about how he experienced playing with Roma legend Francesco Totti, who he called "an idol".
"The guys in Rome love him. He had so many great offers from different international clubs that he rejected, as he always remained loyal to Roma. If we are walking into the San Siro, the fans still applaud him. He's an Italian legend."
