Saints release Ramirez

Southampton have confirmed that winger Gaston Ramirez has been released from the club.
The 25-year-old joined the club in 2012 from Bologna for £12m, a then-record transfer fee. But with just 55 appearances to his name in four years, the Uruguay international's time in England has been underwhelming.
Over the last two seasons, Ramirez has been loaned out to Hull City and Middlesbrough, achieving promotion to the Premier League with the latter, for whom a permanent move is now a possibility.
The Saints also confirmed that veteran goalkeeper Kelvin Davis may be given a new role at the club after 10 years of service. Davis was honoured with a testimonial match at St Mary's last week.
"Kelvin has been instrumental in the club's success in recent years, playing a key part in what has been a special time for everyone involved," Executive Director of Football Les Reed said. "He has set the perfect example since he arrived at the club.
"Kelvin's tremendous passion and commitment to the club are two of the reasons why we are currently in conversations with him about a new role moving forward, in which he can continue to help the club's progression."
