Ed Woodward arrives at the offices of Manchester United Football Club in London
MANCHESTER UNITED executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been spotted arriving at the club's London offices as Jose Mourinho was driven away from his home in Belgravia.
Woodward has been locked in talks with Mourinho's agent over the last 24 hours as they edge closer to the Portuguese's appointment as United's new manager.
Express Sport understands an announcement about Mourinho could be made tomorrow after terms were agreed on a three-year-deal.
But the stumbling block is Mourinho's image rights which are owned by his former club Chelsea, who sacked him in December.
Rui Faria will reunite with Mourinho at Old Trafford having worked together since his first managerial appointment in 2001.
Mourinho also wants Ryan Giggs alongside him in his coaching staff but the Welshman has flown to Dubai to mull over the offer.
Woodward was seen looking tense as he entered United's offices in the capital.
And as he was doing that, Mourinho got into a waiting car and told reporters he is heading to Portugal.
ITV journalist Steve Scott tweeted: "#JoseMourinho says he's off to Portugal.
"Deal done or leaving finer points to lawyers? Either way no pic of new boss in @ManUtd scarf today."
