Liverpool announce Karius signing

Liverpool have completed their first bit of business of the off-season after announcing the capture of goalkeeper Loris Karius on a five-year deal from FSV Mainz 05.
Karius links up with the Merseysiders after being voted the Bundesliga's second-best goalkeeper of the season behind Manuel Neuer, having played a crucial role in helping Mainz secure Europa League football ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
The 22-year-old has been handed the number one jersey at Anfield and will battle it out for a starting berth with last season's first-choice stopper Simon Mignolet.
"It's a very good feeling and it's an honour to play for a club like this," Karius told Liverpoolfc.com.
"They have a special history and the fans are amazing here, so I look forward to playing at Anfield.
"I know a lot about the club from watching them on TV. The history, everybody who plays football knows. There a lot of things in my head when I think of this club.
"I spoke to the manager and I had a good feeling afterwards because he told me what he wants to do with the club and with the players.
"It was a good talk with him and after that I was convinced this was the right decision."
The deal is reported to be worth £4.7 million, and Karius will officially become a Liverpool player when the European transfer window reopens on 1 July.
