Stranraer are without player-assistant manager Lee Mair when they host Ayr in the first leg of their play-off final.Mai

Mair has an ankle injury and will play no part as Stranraer look to move a step closer to Championship football.

Manager Brian Reid is looking for his men to show the same character they did when they saw off Livingston at the weekend.

He said: "We let a three-goal advantage slip at Livingston and everyone assumed we would not recover from that.

"However, our players went out and beat a full-time side in the additional 30 minutes and they showed great character to do that.

"Ayr are a very good side and we will need to play well and show character again to win."

The Honest Men are at full strength, with manager Ian McCall not getting taken in by his side being branded as favourites.

McCall said: "I have heard people saying that we are in with a great chance but we have achieved nothing yet.

"Stranraer have a good manager who has won promotion twice with Ayr, ironically, and a good group of players and it will be difficult for us to get the better of them.

"If you created a league table for 2016 they would just be behind the champions Dunfermline and that tells you that they have been in form for a good period."
