Alcacer: If I make Euro 2016 it's because of a good job with Valencia

Paco Alcacer spoke to Radio MARCA as part of the "Road to the Euro's" series with Rafa Sahuquillo.

The Valencia striker has scored 15 goals in total this season and is looking ahead to the summer, where he hopes to be part of Vicente del Bosque's Spain squad for Euro 2016."I'm really looking forward to the day of the call [from Del Bosque] to see if I'm lucky [to be going to France] or not, it would be a privilege to be on the squad list" he began.

"I think if I go it's because I'm doing good work with Valencia, if I wasn't doing that I wouldn't bother thinking about [the Euro's].

Spain's 'golden generation' faltered in catastrophic fashion in the 2014 World Cup, going out in the group-stages behind the Netherlands and Chile.

Alcacer understands what lies ahead and is confident that he, and his fellow teammates, can perform on the biggest of stages once again.

"For me, and any other footballer, to play in a tournament is the ultimate goal. Getting to the national team, and being Spanish, is the best," he continued.

"The truth is I'm happy with what I can bring to the team and everything is relative to my teammates, football is easier beside them.

"I will work, sacrifice and above all try to score goals, the more the better."

Spain has a plethora of attacking options including Diego Costa, Aritz Aduriz and Saul Niguez, who will all be fighting for a squad place with Alcacer."

It's clear that maybe [Costa] is a different profile, he can bring other things and will always have character on the pitch," says Alcacer.

"[Aduriz] is at a spectacular level that is surprising for his age, hopefully he can maintain that level."

With the Spain Under-19 team I played with Niguez in Estonia, he's a great player and is giving a lot to Atletico Madrid."

I'm very happy for him because he's a great person."The 22 year-old also talked about what it was like to play and train alongside former-Taronges player, David Villa."

For me it was an honour to be on the pitch with him after all he's done for Valencia and Spain, he's like a reflection in the mirror who I look at [for inspiration]," he concludes.
