Ajaccio GFCO 3 - 2 Bastia: Gazelec Ajaccio improve survival chances with vital derby victory
Posted Monday, April 25, 2016 by PA
Gazelec Ajaccio moved out of Ligue 1's bottom three for the first time since February with a 3-2 win against Bastia in the Corsican derby.
The visitors took an early lead when Axel Ngando converted Floyd Ayite's delivery but Ajaccio offered an immediate response to level things up on 20 minutes when Khalid Boutaib beat Jean-Louis Leca at his near post.
And Ajaccio turned the game on its head before the break when Gregory Pujol volleyed Mohamed Larbi's pinpoint delivery beyond Leca to hand the strugglers a half-time lead.
The hosts completed a successful evening's work when Larbi scored a second-half penalty before Yannick Cahuzac netted for Bastia in the 77th minute to make it a nervy finish.
