Daniel Sturridge eyes new Liverpool milestone after Everton goal as he drops future hint
Daniel Sturridge has netted seven Premier League goals in 11 appearances this term

Sturridge's strike in Liverpool's 4-0 rout of Everton on Wednesday took him to the landmark in double-quick time, with only three players in the club's post-war history - Albert Stubbins, Roger Hunt and Fernando Torres - reaching 50 goals faster than his 87.

The quality of the England striker, 26, has never been in doubt at Anfield but his injury record has counted against him.

With Divock Origi emerging as the first-choice frontman in Jurgen Klopp's team, there have been suggestions Liverpool might try to cash in on the former Chelsea and Manchester City man this summer.

But Sturridge has dropped a heavy hint that he sees his future at Anfield.

"I am blessed and grateful to God for all he has blessed me with," he said. "It has been a good time since I've been here and it is great to get to 50 goals.

"I won't play it down and say I'm not happy I've done so well so far with the club. But it is onwards and upwards. It is important to understand now the next aim is 100 goals."

Sturridge is set to start against Newcastle on Saturday and could now have an even bigger role in next Thursday night's Europa League semi-final first-leg tie against Villareal.

Origi yesterday had scans on the ankle injury he sustained against Everton but no timescale has yet been put on his absence.
