Crewe Alexandra vs Colchester United - Kids get another chance for Crewe against Colchester
Posted Tuesday, April 19, 2016 by PA
Already-relegated Crewe will continue to give their kids a chance against Colchester.
Teenagers Callum Ainley, Charlie Kirk and George Cooper started together for the first time in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Scunthorpe while Callum Saunders came off the bench to make his first appearance since March.
Boss Steve Davis has promised Saunders, who has been missing with a knee injury and illness, starts before the end of the season while new signing Daniel Udoh will also be given opportunities.
Midfielder Brad Inman is set to miss out again with an ankle injury.
Colchester will make a late decision on midfielder Tom Lapslie.
Lapslie suffered a kick to the calf in last Saturday's 4-1 loss to Peterborough, but was slated to travel along with Alex Gilbey, who is in the squad following a groin problem.
Defender Alex Wynter is also in the squad, having returned to action for the first time since a head injury in January's FA Cup tie with Tottenham with a run-out for the under-21s against Millwall last Thursday.
Striker Marvin Sordell and midfielder Sammie Szmodics are still recovering following ankle surgery, while defender George Elokobi continues his recovery from a leg injury.
