Revealed: Chelsea’s plan to beat Manchester United to £65m-rated striker

The Everton forward has been heavily linked with a move away from Merseyside this summer following another impressive season at Goodison Park that has seen him net 25 times.

Chelsea and Manchester United have both been tracking his progress and are said to be ready to make a move for him in the transfer window.

But according to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are planning to use several contract loopholes to snatch him for a bargain price.

The Blues sold Lukaku to Everton in 2014 for £28million that included a number of financial clauses in his contract.

Everton are expected to pay Chelsea supplementary sums if Lukaku reaches certain targets, with one of them being if the Toffees win the FA Cup.

Chelsea hope to use any money owed to them through their agreement to help lower the £65m fee.

News of Chelsea’s plan could boost United’s chances of signing the Belgian with Everton likely to accept the higher offer.

Lukaku’s father, Roger, has already made it clear he wants the 22-year-old to complete a move to Old Trafford.

He said: ”I see that there is interest from Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester United.

"I think he must choose Manchester United or Bayern Munich.

"Manchester United is a team under construction with no real focus.

"Bayern Munich is a machine where he can rotate well. The only condition is if Robert Lewandowski moves.”
