Oldham Athletic AFC 2 - 0 Swindon: Liam Kelly and Curtis Main goals give Oldham vital victory against Swindon
Posted Wednesday, April 06, 2016 by PA
Goals from Liam Kelly and Curtis Main handed Oldham a crucial 2-0 home win over Swindon.
Kelly met a terrific left-wing cross by Jonathan Forte in the 10th minute to plant an accurate header beyond Robins goalkeeper Tyrell Belford.
Main doubled the advantage when nodding a bouncing ball beyond Belford after James Wilson had crossed in the 82nd minute, earning three vital points for manager John Sheridan's side as they battle against relegation.
Bradley Barry headed against the crossbar from an acute angle for Swindon from Michael Doughty's left-flank delivery two minutes after Kelly's opener.
Louis Thompson extended home goalkeeper Joel Coleman with a low drive in the first half and Ellis Iandolo shot over from the edge of the area for the visitors as they tried to get back level after the interval.
Jamie Sendles-White sent a well-struck left-footed volley from 20 yards wide for Lee Williams' visitors and Doughty was also off-target, but Oldham goalkeeper Coleman was rarely troubled and Main put the contest out of reach as Swindon slid to a sixth game without a win.
