Milton Keynes Dons 1 - 2 Wolves: MK Dons slump further into relegation mire after defeat to Wolves

MK Dons were pushed further towards a return to Sky Bet League One as Wolves came from behind to win 2-1 at stadiummk.

The Dons took an early lead through Kortney Hause's own goal and they held that advantage until just after the hour mark, when quickfire goals from George Saville and Jack Price sealed victory for the visitors.

Karl Robinson's men are now six points adrift of safety with six games of the campaign remaining and are now facing relegation after a single season in the Championship.

Wolves were poor in the first half but were able to pick themselves up for their first away win since beating Brighton 1-0 on New Year's Day.

The home side made an ideal start as they went ahead after just six minutes, but they had a big bit of help in doing so.

Samir Carruthers found Carl Baker over-lapping on the right and his low cross was missed by Nicky Maynard in the centre, but Wolves defender Hause was to turn the ball past his own goalkeeper.

James Henry then flashed a shot over from a narrow angle for Wolves, but the visitors had made a very lacklustre opening - in truth the match as a whole was short of quality.

Michal Zyro came close to equalising for the visitors, as they began to rouse themselves, when his effort was parried by Dons goalkeeper Cody Cropper, the first time he had been called into action.

It was one of the few times either side was able to put a decent move together in a low-key first half, at the end of which Carruthers bent wide after receiving the ball from George Baldock.

Dominic Iorfa made a good block from Antony Kay's shot from point blank range early in the second half, but the overall standard had not really improved.

Cropper got down well to prevent Adam Le Fondre's low cross from reaching Joe Mason, but Wolves had awoken from their first-half slumber and levelled just after the hour mark.

It came from a superb cross from the right from Henry that Saville attacked at the back post and Cropper could not keep out his powerful header.

The match was turned on its head five minutes later as Le Fondre seized upon Cropper's clearing header before putting Henry in behind and his cut-back put it on a plate for Price, who could not miss.

It had quickly all gone horribly wrong for MK Dons, who were staring at the prospect of the gap between them and salvation widening further.

Jake Forster-Caskey's pot shot from 30 yards that went harmlessly over with 11 minutes left was a sign of their desperation and an equaliser never really looked on the cards.
