Title chasing Tottenham Hotspur are close to tying two key first-team stars down to new long term deals, according to Football Insider.
As reward for helping the North London outfit challenge at the top of the league, both Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen are to be handed lengthy new contracts.
Danish playmaker Eriksen is reported to have agreed to a new five-year-deal in principle, worth £22.9m, after being impressed by Spurs’ ambitions.
Though their lofty position this season has come as a surprise, manager Mauricio Pochettino has crafted an exciting young side and a move to a new stadium is on the horizon.
Meanwhile, defensive star Vertonghen will see his deal expire in 2018 and the club are understood to be keen on extending that until the summer of 2020.
The deal would see his salary rise to around £75,000 a week, making the whole package worth around £17.5m.
Extending both deals would set Spurs back around £40.5m, as they look to keep the nucleus of their hugely impressive side together.
In previous years, the White Hart Lane outfit have sold their prized assets such as Dimitar Berbatov, Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.
