Shaun Wright-Phillips and John Terry played together at Chelsea between 2005 and 2008

Terry looks set to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after not being handed a new deal.

The 35-year-old has vowed to not play for another Premier League club and is expected to continue his career abroad.

A number of ex-Blues stars including Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Wright-Phillips now apply their trade in MLS.

And Wright-Phillips, who now plays for New York Red Bulls with his brother Bradley, has urged Terry to join him across the pond.

"It would be amazing to have JT here," Wright-Phillips told the Sun.

"Everyone knows he has been one of the best players in England for a long time.

"He’s been amazing for his entire career and his reading of the game is unbelievable.

"To have someone here like him - even if it’s not at this club - would really benefit this league and benefit the players playing around him.

"Learning off him first hand instead of just watching on TV would give a boost to all players, whether it’s with or against him.

"Thee league is getting better and bigger and bigger every year so why not help it get even bigger?
