Southend United vs Chesterfield - Southend defender John White available for Chesterfield clash

Defender John White could play for only the second time this year when Southend host Chesterfield in Sky Bet League One.

White has not featured since the 3-0 defeat to Doncaster on January 2 but has recovered from a calf injury and is available this weekend.

Midfielder Myles Weston is out with a foot problem and Ryan Leonard is still sidelined with a knee ligament injury.

Southend have dropped to eighth in the table, having won only once in five matches.

Chesterfield have Gary Liddle available again after a three-match suspension and he is likely to go straight back into the team in the centre of midfield, with either Connor Dimaio or Ollie Banks losing their place.

Jay O'Shea is also pushing for a recall to the starting line-up following a superb goal against Blackpool in midweek after coming on as a half-time substitute.

The likes of Dan Gardner, Dion Donohue, Rai Simons and Jordan Slew are also options for Spireites boss Danny Wilson, whose side are unbeaten in four league games.

Midfielder Chris Herd is not yet ready to return from the hip flexor problem that saw him miss out against Gillingham and Blackpool.
