Preston North End vs Sheffield Wed. - Preston welcome back Ben Pearson

Preston midfielder Ben Pearson will return to contention for the Sky Bet Championship home game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Pearson is back after serving a two-match ban for reaching 10 yellow cards this season, but on-loan defender Marnick Vermijl, an unused substitute in the last three matches, will play no part against his parent club.

Manager Simon Grayson has no new injury or suspension problems and could choose to name an unchanged starting line-up following back-to-back league wins.

Striker Stevie May, sidelined since November, will have knee surgery next Tuesday and remains a long-term absentee.

Wednesday skipper Glenn Loovens and versatile midfielder Sam Hutchinson are expected to return to the squad.

Centre-half Loovens has missed the last two games due to a groin injury, while Hutchinson's troublesome knee ruled him out of last week's 4-0 home win against Brentford.

Head coach Carlos Carvalhal has no new injury concerns and goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith (back) remains the only absentee.

The Owls, up to fifth and unbeaten in the league this year, have won five of their last seven Championship matches.
