Bayern’s Badstuber sidelined

Bayern München have been dealt another defensive blow with the news that Holger Badstuber will be sidelined for three months with a broken ankle.
The 26-year-old centre-back had missed the start of the season due to a torn thigh muscle he sustained in April last year against FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Badstuber started all four games for Pep Guardiola's side in the new year following injuries to Medhi Benatia, Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez, with the club forced to brining in Serdar Tasci on loan from Spartak Moscow as defensive cover.
However, the Germany international is also set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking his ankle in training on Saturday, and has subsequently undergone surgery.
Bayern made the revelation on Twitter, saying: "Bad news: Holger @Badstuber fractured his ankle in training today. He's already undergone surgery and is out for 3 months. Get well soon!"
The defending Bundesliga champions described the news as "immense misfortune for Badstuber and FC Bayern" in a statement on their official website.
