Stuttgart made it five wins in a row to continue their climb up the Bundesliga table with victory over high-flying Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

Geoffroy Serey Die's first Bundesliga goal and a Filip Kostic strike helped Jurgen Kramny's men extend their unbeaten run to seven games with a 2-0 win at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena.

Hertha's Vedad Ibisevic was denied a goal against his former club by a fine save from Przemyslaw Tyton during an evenly-contested first half.

Tolga Cigerci headed another good opportunity for Hertha wide early in the second half, but it was Stuttgart who took the lead minutes later through Serey Die.

Alexandru Maxim's shot was parried by Rune Jarstein and Serey Die met it with the outside of his right boot to curl the ball away from the Hertha goalkeeper into the far corner.

John Anthony Brooks was denied by a post as Hertha looked to respond, but they shot themselves in the foot by gifting Stuttgart a second.

Vladimir Darida gave possession away cheaply just outside his own area and the ball finally found its way across to Kostic, who supplied a composed finish to double Stuttgart's lead with less than 10 minutes remaining.

This latest win helped Stuttgart break into the top 10 for the first time this season, with only six points now separating them from a European spot.
