Manchester City have touched base with Barcelona's Sergio Busquets, after the midfielder admitted that he would like to work with Pep Guardiola again.
Busquets admitted in an interview earlier this week that working with his former manager would be the only thing that could tempt him to leave the Catalans.
Guardiola, who gave Busquets his chance in the senior side at the Camp Nou, is set to take over from Manuel Pellegrini at City in the summer, after three years of coaching German giants Bayern Munich.
With the 27-year-old's recent comments in mind, Spanish publication Sport are reporting that the Premier League side have been in touch with Busquets about working with the 45-year-old manager again.
The report makes it clear that City haven't put forward an official offer to either the midfield enforcer or Barcelona, but have made it clear that the door is open for a potential move to the Etihad should he ever wish to depart his current club.
The article goes on to say that Guardiola doesn't want City to chase any of Barcelona's players, which they haven't done until this instance, as the Spanish coach would only sign a player from his old side in exceptional circumstances.
Guardiola did take Thiago Alcantara with him to Bayern, but in that case the player wanted to leave and Barcelona were happy to let him go.
Busquets has featured in all-but one of Barcelona's La Liga matches this term, and has been pivotal to their push to the top of the division.
