The Sun claim the Tottenham manager is in the frame to replace the Dutchman, as well as former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
United see Pochettino as a long-term fit for the Red Devils and the man who can bring prolonged success back to Old Trafford.
The 43-year-old has impressed at Southampton and now at Spurs in the Premier League bringing young players through the ranks.
Harry Kane and Dele Alli are examples of Pochettino's approach as both men could fire Tottenham to an unlikely Premier League title win.
With Sir Alex Ferguson's tradition of bringing youth players through to the first-team, United are keen to install a new boss with a similar mentality.
Talks are still ongoing with Mourinho but the news that Pochettino is also in the frame will be a cause for concern for the Special One.
