Chelsea reportedly turn down massive Oscar bid from China

Sure, the transfer window in England is officially closed ... but that doesn't mean the silly season is over. Far from it, actually.

Clubs in the Chinese Super League have entered the global spending spree this winter, snapping up players from European league for some considerable sums.

The latest report links Chelsea midfielder Oscar with Jiangsu Suning, the club that just splashed a whopping $56 million on Alex Teixeira from Shakhtar Donetsk and around $31 million for Ramires from the Blues.

Jiangsu's interest in the Chelsea attacker isn't exactly a surprise, but the reported bid is.

The Chinese club offered an astronomical $83 million for the Brazilian, according to ESPN Brasil. That's a lot of scratch for a player who hasn't quite entrenched himself into Chelsea's starting XI. To put it another way, transfermarkt.com values Oscar at $42.3 million.

Yes, he's a big talent with room to improve, but we have to think Chelsea were at the very least considering pulling the trigger at that price tag.

But seriously, with money like that being thrown around, allow us to offer some advice. If you're considering buying your favorite player's kit, we suggest you wait until after Feb. 26 -- when the Chinese transfer window closes.
