Manchester United injury news: Luke Shaw back at Carrington

Manchester United received some good news yesterday, as Luke Shaw returned to their Carrington training facilities for the first time since his horrific leg break back in September.

Manchester Evening News reported that the England international arrived at the campus with his teammates on transfer deadline day.

It was a huge blow for United when the young left-back was carried off on a stretcher following a collision with Hector Moreno against PSV Eindhoven. He was beginning to prove himself as a top full-back, and Louis van Gaal had shown a great deal of faith in him, playing him in every minute of the campaign until his injury.

In the first five Premier League games of 2015/16, he boasted impressive stats, with a pass completion rate of 86% and averaging five defensive actions-per-game.

Shaw became one of the most expensive teenagers in world football when he signed for the Red Devils from Southampton in the summer of 2014, for a fee of £27 million.

Still just 20 years old, he undoubtedly has a big future ahead of him for both club and country, while many are still hoping that he will make a return to the United first-team before the end of the season.

After getting a call-up to Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad in 2014, Shaw can consider himself somewhat unlucky that he might still be just short of fitness ahead of the European Championships in France this summer.
