Las Palmas 2 - 1 Celta Vigo: Willian Jose's last-gasp strike gives Las Palmas precious victory

Las Palmas moved out of the Primera Division drop zone after a last-minute winner from Willian Jose gave them a precious 2-1 victory over 10-man Celta Vigo.

The midfielder scored with virtually the last kick of the game to give Quique Setien's side a first league win of 2016.

A controversial penalty scored by Las Palmas midfielder Jonathan Viera had cancelled out Theo Bongonda's early opener, while Fabian Orellana was sent off in the second half for the Galicians.

Celta coach Eduardo Berizzo made four changes to the side that beat Atletico Madrid 3-1 on Wednesday to reach the Copa del Rey semi-finals and it was one of the players he recalled who broke the deadlock.

Bongonda latched onto a through ball from Carles Planas and smashed past former Celta goalkeeper Javi Varas.

Celta kept the momentum up after scoring but the hosts almost levelled when Willian Jose tried his luck from the edge of the area, whacking the crossbar.

They found an equaliser through a fortuitous penalty, given for an involuntary handball by Gustavo Cabral following a cross from debutant Angel Montoro.

Viera took the penalty and calmly sent Sergio Alvarez the wrong way to score his fifth goal of the season.

The Celta goalkeeper was able to deny the forward early in the second half, however, tipping up and then gathering a powerful drive following a cutback from Momo.

Celta's dream start began to unravel when Orellana was shown a second yellow card for diving to win a penalty on 72 minutes.

And Willian Jose completed the hosts' comeback with virtually the last kick of the game, latching onto a through ball by Roque Mesa to poke past Alvarez.
