Mainz have pulled the plug on BVB Dortmund's proposed deal to bring Yunus Malli to Signal Iduna Park in the current transfer window.

The clubs had reportedly agreed a transfer fee and the 23-year-old was on the verge of joining Dortmund when Mainz seemed to have a change of heart over letting the Turkish attacking midfielder leave in January.
"I informed Dortmund on Monday evening that Yunus will remain in Mainz," sporting director Christian Heidel told the club's official website.
"The decision was not made based on finances, but rather we weren't sold on the overall idea. We had agreed a transfer fee with Dortmund, but the timing of the move isn't optimal for us.
"Yunus is not only our top scorer, but also an important part of the team. And we did not want to tear the team apart as it is."
Malli has contributed eight goals and an assist in 18 appearances in what is fast becoming his breakout season since joining Mainz from Gladbach in 2011.
