Koln 1 - 3 VfB Stuttgart: Stuttgart fight back to beat Cologne and avenge early Bundesliga defeat

Stuttgart avenged a 3-1 defeat to Cologne on the opening weekend of the Bundesliga season by beating the same team by the same scoreline on Saturday.
Cologne took the lead with their first shot on goal, Anthony Modeste converting from the penalty spot in the 18th minute after Georg Niedermeier fouled Marcel Risse inside the area.
Daniel Didavi brought the visitors level 10 minutes before the interval, sliding in to score from five yards after Timo Werner's near-post shot was only parried by Timo Horn.
Werner then put Stuttgart in front early in the second half, heading in Filip Kostic's corner from five yards.
Horn prevented Christian Gentner from adding a third, tipping his curling effort over the crossbar, but he could not prevent the Stuttgart captain from putting the result beyond doubt in the 83rd minute when he turned Lukas Rupp's pass into an open goal.
