New Luton Town manager Nathan Jones began his reign at Kenilworth Road with a goalless draw in the League Two clash against Cambridge United.
The hosts were dealt a blow early on as goalkeeper Mark Tyler had to go off injured with Elliot Justham coming on, while Danny Green was carried off on a stretcher after 20 minutes, Josh McQuoid taking his place.
Jack Marriott saw his acrobatic volley disallowed for offside, while the U's came close on the half-hour mark, Robbie Simpson shooting over the top, with Ben Williamson also firing wide.
For the hosts, Jonathan Smith was off target from distance, while Cambridge's Luke Berry tried his luck volleying into the stands.
Hatters then almost took the lead before half-time as Paul Benson's close-range attempt was parried by Will Norris from Ryan Hall's corner.
In the second half, Hall was only inches away from the opener, with McQuoid's curler behind too.
There was huge moments of controversy just after the hour mark when Lewis Page's cross was turned in by Willamson, seconds after official Andrew Madley had blown for a foul on Page by Paul Benson as the goal did not stand.
Ryan Donaldson then shot at Justham from a free-kick, while Berry was over the top, before Hatters almost won it before Jake Howells' low shot was palmed away by Norris.
