AC Milan ready to make a huge offer for Italy's manager Antonio Conte at the end of the season

There have been a lot of rumors regarding Sinisa Mihajlovic's position and future at AC Milan recently and, once again, with his work as manager still under close scrutiny after a recent run of poor results, even after beating Carpi in the Coppa Italia.

That's why the media have been talking a lot about the options that Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani are considering for taking Mihajlovic's job in case of failure, unveiling their plans for the future of the club. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan would be considering the idea of assigning the team to former Italy and Juventus manager Marcello Lippi until the end of the season -- and then try to convince another former bianconero in Antonio Conte to take the guide of the team.

As reported by many sources, the rossoneri would offer to the current Italian National Team coach a huge four-year contract that would be worth around €8 million per season. While a large financial commitment, it would be possible only because both Filippo Inzaghi's and Clarence Seedorf's contracts will expire at the end of June 2016, clearing exactly the necessary amount of money to make this kind of offer.

Signing Conte would mean that Milan are finally making big plans for the years to come, especially in terms of tactics. Italy's manager, in effect, is widely known for his determined approach during trainings, his use of 4-4-2, 4-2-4 or, alternatively, 3-5-2 and his playing philosophy based on ball possession and continuous movement. For that reason, the rossoneri could move on the market in order to prepare the ground for his arrival and build a roster that could more easily play at a high level under his guidance.

Of course, we're still a long ways away from any potential deal, but it's interesting to think about Conte would be a high-profile hiring, and exactly the kind of hiring Milan fans would want to see after years of managerial struggle. Will it happen? Maybe. Maybe not. But it's fun to think about, if nothing else.
