The Corinthians striker has emerged as a target for the Blues with their problems in front of goal well documented.
Recent reports have indicated that Chelsea have held talks over a deal for the 26-year-old, who is thought to be available for around £12million.
Manchester United, who are also on the lookout for a proven goalscorer, are believed to be tracking developments.
But according to the Daily Star, Guus Hiddink has been informed he must sell Remy if he wants to get his hands on Pato.
The report suggests Chelsea are operating a ‘one-in, one-out’ policy and this must be abided by.
Hiddink is desperate to provide cover up front for Diego Costa, while Radamel Falcao has failed to get a look-in due to his ongoing knee injury.
Leicester’s Jamie Vardy and West Brom striker Saido Berahino are also being monitored by the reigning Premier League champions.
