Arsenal Transfer News: Target drops major hint, Chelsea gazumped, star wanted summer exit

Arsenal target Javier Hernandez has hinted that he could leave Bayer Leverkusen in the future.

"We'll see, you never know what will happen," he said.

"For the last two or three years I've played for Manchester United, Real Madrid and now Leverkusen.

"In this sport, it doesn't matter if you sign for 10, 12 years or if you extend by one season every year. Everything can change after six months.

"I'm happy to be at this great club. My goal is now to play a very good second half of the season."

Arsenal have reportedly moved ahead of Chelsea in the race to snap up Charlton youngster Ademola Lookman.

According to reports, the Gunners reckon they have seen off competition from Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City for the Championship whizzkid.

Arsenal hope to land the 18-year-old striker for £2m this month.

United-pressure Addicks boss Karel Fraeye last month insisted Lookman would not be sold in January but Arsenal could force a deal with a concrete offer.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that he was forced to persuade Joel Campbell to stay at Arsenal before the season.

Asked if Campbell wanted to go, Wenger said: “Yes, but I explained the situation to him. I said, 'let’s have a go and see where we stand in January'.

''I flat-refused to let him go (this season) because I saw something in him that gives you belief, because of his attitude.

''It is true he had players in front of him and you think, 'can you block a player like that?' But he was four times out on loan.

''He came back and you think, ‘let's keep him until January’."
