Match Summary

In the first clash of a double-header between the two teams, who square off again in the Premier League in midweek, Spurs took an early lead through Christian Eriksen, but the visitors hit back soon afterwards when Marcin Wasilewski headed home the equaliser.

Shinji Okazaki then swung the tie in favour of Claudio Ranieri's side with his goal early in the second half, but Kane stepped off the bench to rescue the north Londoners with
his last-gasp penalty after Nathan Dyer had handled inside the area.

Full Report

Mauricio Pochettino's side capitalised on a bit of misfortune from the Foxes with their first real attack on eight minutes, which resulted in the opening goal.

Josh Onomah laid the ball off to an on-rushing Nacer Chadli, whose deflected shot led to visiting goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel punching straight to Eriksen and the Dane coolly slotted past his compatriot.

The Foxes then soaked up a spell of pressure from the hosts and they found a way back into the contest just 11 minutes after going behind, with Wasilewski powering home a header from Demarai Gray's corner to level matters.

The remainder of the first half failed to bring any excitement, but the second stanza started with a bang as Okazaki, who had just been introduced as a half-time substitute, gave the West Midlands club the lead.

The Japan international breezed past two opponents after winning possession and fired straight at Spurs keeper Michel Vorm, who only managed to parry the ball back to a grateful Okazaki to score.

Pochettino then threw on Kane and Nabil Bentaleb, who tested Schmeichel with a venomous strike from distance with four minutes remaining.

But it was the former who made the telling impact as Kane dispatched his 89th-minute spot-kick past Schmeichel after Dyer had handled when he attempted to stop Rose inside the area.
