Manchester United are failing to produce the results or performances that their supporters demand, so activity should be expected in the January transfer window.
According to reports in the Metro, the Old Trafford outfit believe that they can secure the signing of James Rodriguez from Real Madrid for a fee in the region of £56m.
The Colombian international was an absolute star of the 2014 World Cup, finishing as the top scorer in the competition with six goals.
His form at club level since then has perhaps not lived up to those incredible standards, but a record of 16 goals and 17 assists in 38 La Liga appearances is still pretty impressive.
Playing a starring role for his country undoubtedly brought the best out of the 24-year-old, so he would surely relish the responsibility given to him at Old Trafford.
Blessed with tremendous technical ability, as well as a sweet left foot, the Real Madrid man would provide Manchester United with a different dimension in the final third of the pitch.
