Scunthorpe United vs Sheffield United - Wednesday's woes increase after double blow

Posted Friday, December 18, 2015 by PA

Sheffield Wednesday have suffered more injury woe with Michael Turner and Alex Lopez both ruled out of the home game against Wolves.

Defender Turner suffered a recurrence of a knee injury which had kept him out for two months in the midweek defeat at MK Dons, while midfielder Lopez was forced out with a torn thigh muscle.

Tom Lees (hamstring) and Vincent Sasso (knee) would have been in contention to replace Turner but both remain sidelined, so midfielder Sam Hutchinson could be asked to cover in central defence if he is fit following a back problem.

Striker Lucas Joao and winger Ross Wallace plus midfielders Jose Semedo, Lewis McGugan and Jeremy Helan are pushing for recalls.

Wolves are waiting on the fitness of Kevin McDonald ahead of their trip to Hillsborough.

The midfielder suffered an ankle injury in Thursday's 3-2 defeat to Leeds and is rated at 50-50 by boss Kenny Jackett.

Kortney Hause (hamstring) and Emi Martinez (thigh) remain sidelined and unlikely to return before the New Year.

Nathan Byrne is pushing to start after coming off the bench to score against Leeds.
