Vardy: Leicester match my ambitions

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has responded to rumours linking him with a move away from King Power Stadium by insisting the club's ambitions match his own.
The 28-year-old striker continued his meteoric rise to the summit of English football at the weekend as he scored for the 11th match in a row to smash the record set by former Manchester United frontman Ruud van Nistelrooy.
His exploits have played a crucial role in Leicester's unexpected rise to the penultimate position in the league standings, leading to the inevitable transfer rumours linking him with the league's so-called big clubs.
However, Vardy is taking it all in his stride, giving no indication whatsoever that he is looking to leave the Foxes.
When asked if he thought Leicester's ambitions match his own, Vardy said: "Yes, I do. I think the gaffer has come in and told the owners what he wants to do, and he wants to keep progressing.
"He wants to progress on what we did last year and then, in the years to come, he wants to keep us going up and up and up. It is great for the club and he is a great manager.
"He comes across as quite funny sometimes because he has not got the full English language yet but he is brilliant for the players and the club in general."
Vardy was also asked for his thoughts on Leicester's title prospects, and he appears to be cautiously optimistic.
He added: "I think we can but we have to make sure we keep putting in the work on the training field.
"The boss says the target is 40 points, which the team understands perfectly, and that is our target too.
"Once we get there, depending on when that is, we will re-evaluate to see where we can finish.
"We will take each game as it comes and the next one is Swansea City away [on Saturday]."
