Kranevitter dreaming of Barca clash
River Plate midfielder Matias Kranevitter is hoping to face Barcelona in the Club World Cup final before making the switch to Atletico Madrid.

The 22-year-old Argentine signed for Los Rojiblancos in December, but was immediately loaned back to his boyhood club, whom he hopes to leave on a high note.

“I stayed for the Club World Cup, an important competition for which I have to give my all,” Kranevitter said, as reported by Marca.

“I have a clear head, knowing what's to come. First is the Club World Cup, something very important to me, one of the reasons I stayed. I have to take advantage of an important competition for me and my club.

“I've won a lot at River. I've been here since I was 13 and I always dreamed of leaving as a champion. I have to give everything because [the Club World Cup] will be my last games in this shirt.

“I dream of playing against Barcelona. We have to prepare ourselves to reach the final and, hopefully, it will be against Barca. It would be beautiful to play against them.”

Barca and Los Millonarios qualified for the competition as winners of the Champions League and Copa Libertadores, and enter at the semi-final stage representing Europe and South America respectively.

Those semi-final clashes will take place on December 16 and 17, with the final in Yokohama to be played on the 20th.
