Robben: We all want Guardiola to stay at Bayern

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is desperate for manager Pep Guardiola to commit his long-term future to the club, as per Goal.

The Dutchman spoke on his boss’ position amid ongoing speculation linking Guardiola with a move to the Premier League.

The former Barcelona manager has done an excellent job with the Bundesliga giants, guiding them to two Bundesliga titles and a DFB-Pokal triumph.

Meanwhile, Guardiola has also led Bayern to successive Champions League semi-finals in his first two full seasons in charge.

This season, they look set to win a third Bundesliga title under the Spaniard as they currently lead second-placed Borussia Dortmund by eight points, after just 14 games.

Robben, who has represented the club since 2009, declared that he loves working with the Catalan and doesn’t want Guardiola to go.

At an organised event for the Bayern supporters club, Robben said: "We have one of the best coaches in the world and as many of our players have already said, we all want him to stay.

"It is a lot of fun working with him. Tactically he is perhaps the best – and I don’t say that just because he’s our coach at the moment. He is also a perfect human fit with Bayern."

Throughout his managerial career, Guardiola has always penned 12-month rolling contract extensions, resulting in constant reports he could move elsewhere.

The aforementioned article explains that Spanish radio station COPE claimed last week he’d agreed to replace Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Robben has been an essential player for Bayern this term since returning from injury, scoring three goals and creating 18 chances in seven Bundesliga games.
