Georges-Kevin N'Koudou fired a late equaliser as Marseille came back from behind to claim a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Monaco at the Stade Velodrome.

Two first-half efforts from Almamy Toure had cancelled out Romain Alessandrini's opener and put the visitors in command at the interval.

Michy Batshuayi levelled early in the second half for Marseille but Fabio Coentrao looked to have won it for Monaco until N'Koudou drilled his late effort past Danijel Subasic.

Marseille went into the game on a run of five wins from their last six in all competitions while Monaco were smarting from a midweek UEFA Europa League defeat to Anderlecht.

And things looked set to get better for the hosts when Alessandri turned the opener home from close range in the 12th minute after a lively start.

Despite Toure hauling Monaco level, Marseille were unfortunate not to go back in front when the lively Batshuayi saw his effort rebound off the post.

Toure added his second from close range in the 41st minute before Batshuayi finally found the net six minutes into the second half when he converted a Karim Rekik cross to make it 2-2.

In an open game, Marseille continued to have the better chances but it was the visitors who looked to have won it when Coentrao headed home in the 72nd minute after a cross from Uwa Echiejile.

Marseille, who had started the night in a lowly 12th place in the table, 10 points behind second-placed Caen, briefly looked demoralised before rallying to push for an equaliser.

It finally arrived eight minutes from time when 20-year-old N'Koudou picked up a ball from substitute Luis Ocampos and left keeper Subasic with no chance.
