Empoli 1 - 0 Lazio: Empoli strike early to extend Lazio's travel sickness in Serie A
Posted Monday, November 30, 2015 by PA
Lorenzo Tonelli condemned Lazio to a fourth consecutive away defeat with his early goal for Empoli at the Carlo Castellani.
The Empoli defender opened his account for the season with a fifth-minute header and try as they might the Biancocelesti could not then get past Lukasz Skorupski, who worked particularly hard to protect the 1-0 lead.
Filip Djordjevic and Miroslav Klose were both denied by the Polish goalkeeper while Stefan Radu clattered the crossbar shortly after half-time.
Lazio even had a goal ruled out in the final minutes, with Alessandro Matri's towering header freeing up Klose only for the German striker to be ruled offside.
