Arsene Wenger hails Alexis Sanchez’s “remarkable” lack of fatigue

Arsene Wenger has praised the "resistance" to fatigue shown by Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez, as per the Daily Star.

Sanchez has been Arsenal’s standout player since joining from Barcelona for a bumper fee of £35 million in July 2014 (fee via BBC Sport), going on to score 16 goals in his debut season in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old missed just three domestic fixtures in his maiden English campaign, impressing with his ability to turn in quality performances on a weekly basis.
Indeed, no Gunners teammate made more chances than Sanchez (79) in 2014/15.

The forward has already played 24 matches for club and country in 2015/16, despite getting little time to recharge his batteries over the summer break; last season didn’t end until July for Sanchez, after he helped Chile win the Copa America for the first time in the competition’s 99-year history.

Following Sanchez’s brace in Arsenal’s midweek Champions League victory over Dinamo Zagreb, Wenger has praised his player’s fitness levels.

"His resistance is remarkable," Wenger said.

"What is also remarkable is that he goes to South America [on international duty], he comes back Thursday night and on Saturday he can play without a problem, even if he’s jet-lagged."

Sanchez played two World Cup qualifying fixtures last week before returning to north London just days before Arsenal’s Premier League clash with West Bromwixh Albion.
Wenger had announced his intentions to rest his star player, but with Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all sidelined through injury, a free slot for Sanchez to recharge his batteries has proven hard to find.

He has played the full 90 minutes of their last three Premier League outings, as well as lasting the whole match in their Champions League clash at the Emirates in midweek.

Sanchez and co. head to Carrow Road this weekend as they return to domestic action against Norwich City, whilst looking to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat to West Brom last time out.
