Malmo FF 0 - 5 Paris Saint Germain: Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns to haunt hometown club Malmo

Zlatan Ibrahimovic marked his return to his hometown club by helping PSG to a 5-0 Champions League victory over Malmo at the Swedbank Stadion.

Ibrahimovic struck the French champions' third goal against the club where he began his professional career before leaving for Ajax in 2001.

It was the first time the 34-year-old Sweden striker had played a competitive match there since his departure and he paid for the match to be shown on a big screen in Stortorget, the city's main square.

Angel Di Maria scored twice while Adrien Rabiot and Lucas Moura were also on target as PSG confirmed their place in the knockout phase of the Champions League as Group A runners-up.

The French giants named a team that bristled with attacking intent, Ibrahimovic starting up front in partnership with Edinson Cavani, while Di Maria and Blaise Matuidi were present to supply the ammunition.

It was Malmo who started with the greater intent but with their first meaningful possession, PSG were able to score.

Only four minutes were on the clock when Ibrahimovic fed right-back Kurtley van der Wiel who sent a cross to Rabiot and the France Under-21 international was the first to the ball, heading it home.

PSG have won eight in a row in Ligue 1 and that flying form was evident in Sweden as they eased 2-0 ahead in the 16th minute through Di Maria.

Vladimir Rodic was responsible for allowing Di Maria free run of the box, but it still required a smart finish from the former Manchester United winger after gathering a fine pass from Matuidi.

Selfless work from Ibrahimovic teed up Cavani only for the post to come to Malmo's rescue, before the Swede was on the scoresheet himself in the 51st minute.

It took a mix up in the home defence for the chance to arise, but when it did Malmo's returning son reacted smartly by robbing Anton Tinnerholm before firing into the corner.

PSG then blundered at the back when Brazilian left-back Maxwell brought down Nikola Djurdjic. The penalty was given but Markus Rosenberg could only hit the post.

The Ligue 1 champions continued to press and were rewarded by an outstanding goal by Di Maria, who combined wonderfully with Maxwell, before a free-kick from Moura put Malmo out of their misery.
