Liverpool round-up: Pato can be signed, Reds ready to buy Saponara

There’s a good feeling surrounding Liverpool this week, and the mood is getting even better with some transfer speculation and good injury news.

The Reds thumped Manchester City at the Etihad at the weekend, and Jurgen Klopp is already yielding the best from his side nearly two months into his reign.

With plenty to discuss, here’s a round-up of everything surrounding Anfield on Tuesday.

Khouma Babacar’s agent says that there’s no chance of the player leaving Fiorentina for the Premier League. Babacar has emerged as a reported target for Liverpool, but his agent Patrick Bastianelli insists the 22-year-old is happy in Florence under Paolo Sousa. Lucas Biglia is prepared to leave Lazio in the coming months, alerting Liverpool in the process. The 29-year-old Argentina international has been sought-after by the Reds, but the central midfielder is eager for Champions League football, which has prompted speculation that he could move on as early as January. Liverpool are set to make a move for Empoli forward Riccardo Saponara next summer. Juventus and Roma are understood to be interested in buying the playmaker, but Liverpool are ready to spend big on him with Empoli not prepared to accept any bids in the January transfer window. Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho could still feature against Swansea City this weekend, despite picking up a hamstring strain against Manchester City. The 23-year-old hobbled off shortly after the hour-mark with a tight hamstring, and there were fears that he could spend the next few weeks on the sidelines. However, reports indicate that the injury isn’t serious and he could still feature at the weekend, but perhaps miss out on the Bordeaux clash. Last but not least, Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has praised Jurgen Klopp, revealing he’s been “very impressed” with the German’s methods at Anfield. The 26-year-old is yet to play a single minute under the German due to a knee injury, but was on the bench for the trip to the Etihad at the weekend. Sturridge admits that Klopp has caught his eye in training, and is hoping his side can keep up their strong showings. Sturridge has created three chances in the league this season. (Liverpool Echo)

Finally, Liverpool have been cleared to sign Alexandre Pato. The Reds can sign the 26-year-old forward for £11 million. (Evening Standard)
