Gainsborough Trinity vs Shrewsbury Town - Adam Drury set for Gainsborough debut in FA Cup clash with Shrewsbury

Vanarama National League North side Gainsborough Trinity could hand an immediate debut to new signing Adam Drury in their FA Cup first-round tie against League One Shrewsbury.

Drury, a 22-year-old midfielder or striker formerly on the books of Manchester City, joined the club this week as a free agent having been released by Bristol City.

The Lincolnshire club are hoping for a crowd of around 2,000 at the Gainsborough Martin & Co Arena - four times their normal gate - for a tie that has caught the town's imagination.

Chairman Richard Kane told the Gainsborough Standard: "There is no pressure on the players. We are calling it David v Goliath. People have been saying to me that it has created a real buzz around Gainsborough and hopefully we can keep that going."

Jermaine Grandison could return for Shrewsbury after recovering from a back injury.

The defender is training again now but has added competition in the backline after the signings of Zak Whitbread and Anthony Gerrard.

On-loan Crystal Palace winger Sullay Kaikai is unlikely to feature, though, as he continues to battle a knee injury which forced him out of last week's 2-0 defeat to Port Vale.

The teams are separated by 69 places in the football pyramid ahead of their first-ever meeting on Sunday.
