Jose Mourinho: Liverpool defeat wasn’t my last game in charge

Speaking after this afternoon’s game, Jose Mourinho claimed that Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat against Liverpool wasn’t his last match in charge of the Premier League champions.

It was yet another disastrous day at the office for Chelsea, as they suffered their third defeat in a week following losses at West Ham in the Premier League and Stoke City in the Capital One Cup.

The Blues remain 15th on 11 points after 11 games, but they made a great start to the Liverpool clash.

Ramires gave Chelsea the lead after just four minutes, his second league goal of the season. However, it didn’t have the expected effect, as Liverpool preceded to take control of the game.

Philippe Coutinho eventually found the deserved equaliser in first half stoppage-time and later gave Jurgen Klopp’s men the lead with 16 minutes to go.

Christian Benteke scored the decisive third nine minutes later, giving Klopp his first Premier League win, but for Chelsea and Mourinho it was yet another worryingly poor display. The champions had eight shots compared to Liverpool’s 16, created just four chances and completed 80% of their passes.

It’s their sixth league defeat of the season, and should either Manchester City or Arsenal win today they will find themselves 14 points behind the leaders.

If Mourinho is correct about his position, then next up for him and his side is a crucial home clash against Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League on Wednesday night, followed by another trip to Stoke next weekend.
