Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone was delighted with the performance in their 2-1 win over Valencia at Estadio Vicente Calderon on Sunday.
First-half strikes from Jackson Martinez and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco secured the win for Los Rojiblancos despite Paco Alcácer scoring from the penalty spot for Los Che.
"We had one of our best games in recent memory," Simeone said. "It's a shame we only won 2-1 because the margin was too small in comparison with our performance.
"From start to finish, we dominated the pitch, always won the second ball, played with profundity, created chances and made opponents like Valencia play on our terms.
"We'd been talking about the issue of Carrasco for several weeks, and he's improving on the basis of the effort he's made in adjusting to the team's characteristics.
"We're happy for his performance, and the goal he scored is his specialty. He's a guy who's come here to score important goals.
"[Jackson] is continuing his growth. He took his goal and had another chance. For those who said he hadn't been scoring, he's now scored in our last two games and I'm happy for him."
