Greenock Morton 1 - 0 Alloa Athletic: Ross Forbes' strike sinks Alloa as Morton ended four-match losing streak
Posted Sunday, October 25, 2015 by PA
Morton ended a run of four straight defeats as they edged past Alloa 1-0 at Cappielow Park.
They needed a late Derek Gaston save to gain the three points, as the goalkeeper made a vital grab in the dying seconds from an Isaac Layne header.
The Ton had the best chance of the first period. Denny Johnstone headed a corner goalwards, but Wasps' frontman Michael Chopra was handily placed to nod the ball off the line.
When Mickey Doyle fouled Michael Tidser, however, Ross Forbes eyed up his chance and curled a fabulous free-kick in from 25 yards.
It proved sufficient to clinch victory as Alloa fell to a 10th defeat in 13 games.
