Mainz 1 - 3 Werder Bremen: Werder Bremen win at Mainz to give Viktor Skripnik some relief
Posted Sunday, October 25, 2015 by PA
Werder Bremen lifted some of the pressure off their coach Viktor Skripnik with their first win in six, a 3-1 triumph at Mainz.
A dramatic final five minutes of the first half paved the way for Bremen's away win, which brought to an end a run of five straight defeats, with the visitors from northern Germany going in at the interval three goals to the good.
Anthony Ujah supplied two of their goals, both from Santiago Garcia assists, and Fin Bartels netted a third on the stroke of half-time.
Mainz had to wait until stoppage time at the end of the match for their endeavours finally to be rewarded in the shape of a consolation goal from Yoshinori Muto.
It was too little too late for Mainz, who were dragged to within two points of their guests, who moved out of the bottom three.
