Wycombe Wanderers vs Newport County - Paul Hayes set for Wycombe return

Wycombe captain Paul Hayes could return as his side look to end a run of two straight League Two losses when they face struggling Newport at Adams Park on Tuesday night.

Hayes has been out since early last month with an Achilles injury and played no part in his side's 2-1 defeat at lowly Stevenage on Saturday.

Boss Gareth Ainsworth expects no new injury setbacks for the game with Michael Harriman pushing for a place on the bench after his return from injury.

Sam Wood and Anthony Stewart are both still out as the Chairboys look to get back to winning ways.

Newport manager John Sheridan has no fresh injury concerns as his side look to climb off the foot of the Sky Bet League Two standings.

Defensive duo Andrew Hughes (knee) and Nathan Ralph (hamstring) remain sidelined for the foreseeable future but otherwise the Exiles boss has a full-strength squad to choose from as he seeks a first victory in charge.

Despite losing 1-0 at home to Portsmouth at the weekend, Sheridan has suggested he could utilise the same 3-5-2 formation again at Adams Park, saying on www.southwalesargus.co.uk: "Neither goalkeeper had too much to do and defensively, the shape of the side, that was okay."

The defeat to Pompey was Newport's ninth in 13 league games this season, leaving them two points adrift at the bottom of the table.
