4 Liverpool players likely to be sold by Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will step into a new era full of hope and promise as the German takes charge of his first game for Liverpool against Spurs. Liverpool fans will be hoping that the German finds success with them and stays on for a long time. Klopp on the other hand will straight head to the upper echelons of football management if his tenure at Liverpool is successful.

Klopp at Dortmund had a very distinctive style which meant that every player couldn’t fit the German’s requirements. He prefers a fast, vertical style of play which requires players with speed, skill and most importantly speed of thought. It still remains to be seen whether Klopp sticks to Dortmund style or does he tailor his tactics suited to the Liverpool players. If the former then some Liverpool players might be sold off or might find it difficult to break into the first team.

Joe Allen

The Welsh Xavi’s style of recycling possession by maintaining control and playing short passes certainly hasn’t pleased any Liverpool fans till now and certainly will not please Klopp. Klopp whose central midfielders are full of energy and guile will not want Allen to play as a holding midfielder as the build up play becomes very slow.

Martin Skrtel

Skrtel has been a long and a loyal servant to Liverpool as their leader in defence. The biggest problem with him is his lack of pace which won’t allow Klopp to play a high line which he generally likes to to squeeze the opposition. Also Skrtel is not very good on the ball which is another drawback.

Christian Benteke

Benteke, this summer’s biggest signing has failed to start the season in good form. Except for the goal against Manchester United, Benteke has failed to make an impact. Benteke although a very physical presence is a very good player when the ball is played to his feet. With Sturridge’s return, there is no way now that the Belgian can get into the team ahead of the Englishman.

Lucas Leiva

The Brazilian defensive midfielder is another player whose skills don’t fit Klopp’s style. Lucas was almost sold off in the summer but now his time at Anfield is surely over unless he has a radical change in his form.
